How I Built Resilience: M. Night Shyamalan

And today, my conversation with filmmaker M Night Shyamalan. I spoke with M knight as part of NPR's storytelling lounge at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Knight is an acclaimed filmmaker whose work includes the sixth sense, Unbreakable, and Split, and more recently he's entered the world of television with his Apple T V Plus series servant, Now in its second season.

Before he became a blockbuster, film director, producer, and writer, Knight grew up outside Philadelphia, where, as his fans know, many of his stories take place. And as a kid. He loved recreating and filming his favorite movies in his spare time. I wanna just start briefly with a little bit about your your story,'cause you you really developed a passion for filmmaking as a kid, right? You had like a Super 8 camera at home. I had one when I was a little kid. I used to play around with it.

Unlike you, I didn't make forty five movies on it by the age of seventeen. How did you just fall in love with that camera and making movies as a kid. How did that happen? I think it was a confluence of when I was born and
