terms of service
Terms
Effective 2026-09-07. These are the terms between you and Eggvelop ApS for using Podmenti, the website and the API. Creating an account means you accept them, together with the privacy policy. If you are using Podmenti for a company, you accept them on its behalf.
1. Who we are
Podmenti is operated by Eggvelop ApS, a Danish limited company, CVR 44287463. You can reach us at contact@podmenti.com. "We" and "us" below means Eggvelop ApS; "you" means the person or organisation holding the account.
2. What Podmenti is
Podmenti makes machine-generated transcripts of publicly available podcast episodes. Some episodes are already in our library; any other episode of any public podcast can be transcribed on request. Transcripts can be read on the site, exported as text, subtitles or word-level JSON, searched with AI Search, and fetched through the API. Show and episode listings come from public podcast directories.
Everything is produced by software. Transcripts can contain mistakes, mishear names, and drop or add words; timestamps can drift when a publisher changes the audio. We work to keep them accurate and in sync, but you should verify anything you rely on against the recording itself.
3. Accounts and keys
- An account is created by verifying an email address. There is no password: your API key is the account, and it works on the site and the API alike.
- Keep the key secret. Anything done with it counts as done by you, including credits spent. If it leaks, rotate it from your account page at once; the old key stops working immediately.
- One person, one account. Creating several accounts to collect free credits is not allowed, and we may close the extras.
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to hold an account.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used for abuse, or has not been used for two years; see section 12.
4. Credits, plans and payment
- Every plan, including the free one, is a monthly allowance of credits that resets each cycle. Unused credits do not roll over and have no cash value.
- Prices and what a credit buys are on the plans page. One credit is one hour of audio: an episode already in the library costs one credit to unlock, whatever its length; a new episode costs its length in hours, rounded to the nearest hour, never less than one; an AI Search query costs one. The fast lane costs 2 credits per hour.
- You always see the price before you spend, and the price you are shown is the price you pay.
- Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance by Stripe, monthly, until cancelled. Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT where VAT applies; Stripe adds it at checkout based on your country.
- An unlocked episode stays unlocked for as long as your account exists, whatever happens to your plan afterwards.
- Refunds of credits: an AI Search query that fails is refunded automatically, and so is the fast lane premium when we miss the promise (section 6). Beyond that, credits spent on work we delivered are not refunded.
- We may change prices and allowances. Changes to a paid plan take effect from your next billing cycle, and we tell you by email at least 14 days before.
5. Cancelling and the right of withdrawal
- You can cancel a paid plan at any time from the billing portal on your account page. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period; until then the plan and its credits stay usable. Nothing is deleted when you cancel: your account continues on the free plan, and your unlocks stay.
- If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA you have a right to withdraw from a new subscription within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason, by writing to contact@podmenti.com. By subscribing you ask us to start providing the plan straight away. If you withdraw after having used credits, we refund the fee minus the value of the credits used, at the plan's own per-credit rate.
6. The fast lane promise
The fast lane transcribes a new episode on a rented GPU at 2 credits per hour of audio. Every fast lane job carries a promise: the number of seconds from your request within which it will be ready, at least 5 minutes and longer for big batches, shown before you confirm. If a job is later than its promise, or an episode cannot run on the fast lane and falls back to the standard queue, the premium (the extra credit per hour above the standard price) is refunded automatically. The measured speeds we publish are exactly that, measurements, not a guarantee of future speed. The standard lane has an estimate, not a promise.
7. Request limits and fair use
Every call made with your key counts as one request against your plan's daily allowance, currently Free 1,000, Plus 5,000, Pro 20,000, Business 50,000 requests per day, reset at midnight UTC. Calls that cost credits are marked as such on the API page; all others cost only a request. We may throttle or pause a key that hammers the service in a way that harms other customers, and we will say so if we do. If you need more than the largest plan offers, write to us.
8. Transcripts, audio and copyright
- The podcasts belong to their publishers. Podmenti transcribes audio the publishers have made publicly available through their own feeds, and never hosts, copies or redistributes the audio itself: every player on the site streams from the publisher's own URL.
- A transcript is a machine rendering of someone else's speech. We give you a licence to use the transcripts you unlock for your own purposes: reading, searching, research, accessibility, quoting, and building products that reference episodes. That licence does not make you, or us, the owner of the underlying content, and it does not let you do anything the publisher's rights would not allow, such as republishing whole episodes as text as if they were yours.
- You are responsible for how you use what you take out. If you publish, quote or build on a transcript, respect the rights of the publisher and the people speaking.
- Publishers and rights holders who want an episode or a show removed can write to contact@podmenti.com. We act on such requests promptly, and we may remove content that we are told, or believe, infringes someone's rights.
- Anything you send us (episode requests, webhook URLs, AI Search topics) must be lawful and yours to send.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- share, sell or pool your key, or use someone else's;
- get around credit prices, request limits or the one-account rule, by any means;
- use the service to break the law, infringe rights, harass anyone, or send unsolicited messages;
- probe, overload or interfere with the service, or attempt to access data that is not yours;
- copy the library wholesale in order to run a competing transcript database.
10. The API
- The API is documented at /api and described in /openapi.json. It is subject to these terms, the credit prices and the request limits.
- We may add endpoints and fields at any time. We give at least 30 days' notice, by email and on the API page, before removing or changing an existing endpoint in a way that would break a correct client.
- Webhooks are delivered to the https URL you give us, signed with your secret. You are responsible for that endpoint and for verifying signatures.
- Applications you build must not present Podmenti as the publisher of the podcasts, and must comply with section 8.
11. Availability and changes
We run Podmenti carefully, but it is provided as it is, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Transcription depends on publishers' audio being reachable, and on third-party infrastructure. We may change, add or remove features. If we discontinue the service, or materially reduce what a paid plan includes, we tell you by email at least 30 days before and refund the unused part of any paid period.
12. Ending the agreement
- You can close your account at any time by writing to contact@podmenti.com; see the privacy policy for what is deleted.
- We may close or suspend an account that breaks these terms. Where the breach is serious (abuse, fraud, circumventing limits) we may do so at once and without refund. In other cases we warn you first and refund the unused part of any paid period.
- Sections 8, 13 and 14 continue to apply after the agreement ends.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, including a consumer's statutory rights. Subject to that: we are not liable for losses caused by inaccuracies in transcripts, by publishers' audio being unavailable or changed, by third-party services we depend on, or for indirect losses such as lost profits or data. Our total liability to you for anything arising from the service in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
14. Law, disputes and complaints
These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes are settled by the Danish courts, with the City Court of Copenhagen as the first instance, unless you are a consumer entitled to bring proceedings where you live. Consumers in Denmark can complain to the Danish Center for Complaint Resolution (Center for Klageløsning) at forbrug.dk. Consumers elsewhere in the EU or EEA keep any mandatory protections of their own country. Whatever the forum, please write to us first: most problems are solved by email within a day.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top is the effective date of the current version. For material changes we email every account at least 14 days before they take effect; continuing to use Podmenti after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not, cancel and stop using the service before they apply, and any unused part of a paid period is refunded.
Questions about any of this: contact@podmenti.com. See also the privacy policy.
