Welcome to the Daily Stoic podcast, designed to help bring those four key stoic virtues, courage, discipline, justice, and wisdom into the real world. Hey, it's Ryan. Welcome to another episode of The Daily Stoic. podcast. I guess people think of Stoicism as being very serious, about self-command, about containing emotion.

So, so where does that leave humor? I actually think the Stoics are hilarious. There's a bunch of jokes all throughout the Stoics, especially in Marx Reelius' writing. I mean, there's even a Stoic who dies of laughter. The joke sort of one of those you had to be there

It's funny to hear that Chrysippus died of laughter, so I guess that's that's funny too. But my point is, humor and stoicism, they're they're certainly not mutually exclusive. And in fact, I think some of the best Stoic observations are funny. In any case, a Stoic is not gonna go around getting offended, insisting that that other people take things very seriously, because you know, that's focusing on something that's not in your control.
