Where Spotify puts its transcripts
- Phone: start playing the episode, open Now Playing and scroll down to the Read Along card, then tap it to read full screen. Some episodes also have an Episode transcript section on the episode page.
- Computer: in the desktop app, open the Now Playing view on the right; synced transcripts appear there under Read Along.
- Web player: Spotify does not document transcripts there, and listeners report none.
Why your episode has none
- The show is not eligible. In Spotify's words, "transcripts aren't available to all creators", and it publishes no criteria.
- The creator switched them off, for that episode or the whole show. Creators control this in Spotify for Creators.
- You are on a computer. The plain auto-generated transcript is in the mobile app only, a Spotify moderator explained in July 2025.
- You have not pressed play. Read Along appears once the episode is playing.
- The language. Spotify publishes no list of transcript languages.
There is nothing a listener can switch on: whether a transcript exists is up to Spotify and the creator.
Even when it has one, you cannot take it with you
Spotify's own moderators say there is "no way to completely copy a transcript", and that downloading one "is not built into the Spotify application". You can share a single quote from Read Along, and that is it.
Read the whole episode anyway
Almost every show on Spotify also publishes its episodes in a public RSS feed, the one every other podcast app uses. Paste the Spotify link in the box above: we find the episode in that feed and transcribe the audio, so you get all of the text with timestamps, to copy or download. The exception is a Spotify exclusive, which has no public feed.
