If you go through life Over indexing. And caring too much what people think about you, that's your ceiling. I want to start with something you said last time we talked, which is most people are underperforming relative to their ability. Yeah. Walk me through that. There's a term that I came across many years ago uh called the central governor hypothesis, and essentially conveys the fact that most people underperform.
And and Any observer of the human condition, I think going back to forever. agrees that that's probably True. Now why is that? Well
you have to sort of delve into sort of human biology and genetics and understand so what's what's the purpose of the of the brain? generally to keep you alive long enough to reproduce, right? You know, at a at a at a fundamental biological level. But we're not designed to overperform. We're designed to survive. Yeah. And so overperformance or uh or achieving one's potential requires sort of a cognitive decision to push oneself there. Right. So to illustrate it, uh I think a common illustration is if you look at marathon runners or any extreme athlete.
