So just a quick update before we get into the podcast. I decided to get rid of ads. In my day to day life I avoid ads like the plague. I pay for YouTube premium so I never have to see ads. I use a browser with a built in ad blocker. And I fast forward ads and podcasts.

I do whatever I can to avoid ads because I know they are effective. To quote one of the books that I talk about on the podcast today, Zero to One. Advertising matters because it works. It works on nerds and it works on you. You may think that you're an exception, that your preferences are authentic.

And advertising only works on other people. It is easy to resist the most obvious sales pitches, so we entertain false confidence in our own independence of mind. Anyone who can acknowledge its likely effect on himself. is doubly deceived. End quote. It is not the best experience for you the listener.

That is the first couple of minutes. The rest is 1 credit.

We already have this episode, so unlocking it is cheap and permanent: the full transcript, segment and word-level timestamps, and .txt, .srt, .vtt and word-level JSON downloads, as many times as you like, forever.

10 free credits is 10 episodes like this one a month. Episodes nobody has transcribed yet cost their length in hours, because we have to actually transcribe them.
